  1. After thinking about it, I have to wonder if the reason ufo and alien encounters are down is because we have developed a list of rationals that reduce the number of cases that catch our interest. For instance, if you were to go on to reddit and say “I think I was abducted last night” the first questions shot at you from complete strangers not in the ufology field are 1. Do you suffer from sleep paralysis? 2. Do you have schizophrenia? 3. Were you high? 4. Could it have been a vivid dream or night terror? and so on. Really, short of someone being able to prove with evidence that the answer to all of these questions is no, we kind of rationally dismiss an experiencer who doesn’t either have a valid witness, an unidentified implant or some kind of video/photographic evidence we cannot attribute to photoshop. I’m not saying this approach is wrong, but I do wonder if it has in fact removed potential cases from further interest and/or made people unwilling to talk about their encounters now just as it has been for decades. No doubt this similar line of thinking has become almost standard on multiple platforms of social media as well as among ufo researchers.
